Happy Birthday Dr. King

On the official birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we pause to pay homage to a gentleman that made a change in the world that can never be forgotten. Dr. King was one of the most powerful men and activist during the civil rights movement between the mid 1950's and late 60's. The people of all nationalities, colors or races that Dr. King motivated and inspired to create a greater nation of unity is immeasurable. However, we can see the growth and progression our nation continues to achieve, especially as we now see President Barack Obama, in one of the most powerful positions in the world. It shows us that the famous "I Have a Dream" speech of 1963 has come to fruition and will continue to come to pass, as we as a nation stay focused on being one unit, rather than a group of individuals, which Dr. King encouraged.

In staying true to "Life...With Style" I would be remiss if I did not make mention of how dapper and stylish Dr. King was on all occasions. It is very rare that we find a public photo of Dr. King in anything less than a full suit, dress shirt and necktie. Yes, the standard of the male image has changed since then, but my question is to why? The images we see of Dr. King confirms again that the power of presentation and self image can get people to listen to you, and when you get them to listen, you better be effective in what you're saying! Dr. King did, that's "Life...With Style!"

Yours truly,
Michael Ferrera
